Why Ecova Clad

Timber is often sold as being a carbon neutral building material, but it is not.

Whilst timber is a more sustainable solution than heavy building materials it cannot be considered carbon neutral due to the emissions created by felling, transporting, sawing, and drying. Ecova Clad offset all embodied carbon in their timber cladding ranges to offer a truly carbon neutral solution.

Our independently audited carbon neutral product ensures the highest levels of ethical and socially responsible sourcing for your project.

Carbon Offsetting

Ecova Clad have partnered with iOffset an independently accredited organisation who support businesses to offset carbon to compensate for their emissions.

Trust and transparency are fundamental to Ecova Clad and iOffset which is why all carbon credits will presented on a public registry. The UN will support in the creation of authenticated certificates to provide reassurance that support is being used to fund projects to remove or avoid the release of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Carbon offsetting projects include renewable energy schemes such as wind, solar or hydro power plants and afforestation programmes. These projects are verified and accredited by the world’s leading carbon registries such as The Gold Standard (WWF), Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and The United Nations.

Independent detailed calculations have been made to calculate the embodied carbon in Ecova Clad Timber Cladding. This includes all transportation from country of origin, mill operations, site electricity, site fuel, packaging, waste, and more. The result is an embodied carbon measure of kgCO2e per m2.

For every m2 of Ecova Clad Timber Cladding purchased we invest in projects around the world to reduce carbon emissions.

Florestal Santa Maria Project

Project Details:

Location: Mato Grosso, Brazil
Verification: VCS, FSC
Project Type: REDD+
Project ID: 875

This FSM-REDD Project is located in Colniza Municipality, Mato Grosso, Brazil. This region is part of the Brazilian Amazon and known
as Deforestation Arch, due to the intense deforestation pressure. As an alternative to combat this, FSM-REDD Project estimates the
avoidance of 29,923,331 tCO2 throughout 30 years within Fazenda Florestal Santa Maria – private land owned by FSM, comprising 71,714
ha. of native forest. FSM is committed to local socio-environmental development.

Project activities encompass a partnership with a neighboring State Park, promoting local initiatives to create fire brigades. Also, FSM will
create, together with Colniza City Hall, technical forestry schools targeting the education of local children and young people. The project
activities are proposed to create an average 997,444 tCO2e per year.

Cikel Brazilian Amazon REDD Project

Project Details:

Location: Para, Brazil,
Verification: VCS Standard
Project Type: REDD+
Project ID: 832

The CIKEL Brazilian Amazon REDD APD Project aims to avoid emissions from planned deforestation on a property in Paragominas Municipality, Para state, Brazil.

The main activity of the CIKEL Brazilian Amazon REDD APD Project is the cancelation of the planned deforestation activities and decision to instead conserve the forest area and continue limited forest management activities in the area under Forest Stewardship Council® Certification (FSC®) with Low Impact Logging (SFMLIL) practices. Also, the company is intensifying and improving its practices to support the sustainable social development, maintaining and improving the biodiversity monitoring at the RCC in the framework of FCS certification and REDD activities. The project will avoid 9,432,299 tCO2 that would have been emitted into the atmosphere over the next ten years.
